He is a 3 times world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, 2002 champion in the open division Brazilian Championship, 5 times Rio de Janeiro jiu-jitsu champion, 2007 champion of de ADCC trials in Brazil, Brazilian Teams Champion at Gracie Barra team, 3 times champion of Brazil X USA jiu-jitsu, 3 times Pan-American jiu-jitsu champion, 2000 USA Jiu-jitsu champion, 5 times champion of the open division of Copa Café Jiu-jitsu in MIguel Pereira - Rio de Janeiro, among other championships.
He has notable wins in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition over Rodrigo "Comprido", Gabriel Gonzaga, Fabricio Werdum, "Marcelinho" Garcia, Demian Maia, Bruno Bastos, "Corleta", and others.
He was known for his 30 minutes controversial fight with Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira in the USA ADCC trials, Minotauro was believed to tapout to a guillotine choke at the same time the ring's rope bursted. The fight was restarted, with both fighters starting in stand up and Minotauro won by 2 points.
