Enson "Yamato Damashii" Inoue (Template:Lang-ja, born April 15, 1967) is a Japanese American mixed martial arts fighter. He has a professional MMA record of 11-8-0 as of April 16, 2004. Inoue holds a submission win (armbar) over former UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture as featured in the documentary film Rites of Passage and the movie Redbelt.

BiographyEdit

Enson's achievements include a victory over UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, and giving Frank Shamrock one of his toughest matches. Enson had an exhibition match in Mudo Spirit on September 16, 2007.[1]

Enson and his brother were awarded a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by John Lewis. He is also a former Shooto Heavyweight Champion. Enson appeared in the MMA fictional film Redbelt in a cameo role. [2]

Personal lifeEdit

Enson, a Japanese American from Hawaii, is divorced and has a stepson (Erson).[3] He is the brother of Egan Inoue. On the 18th of October 2008, Enson was charged with the possession of up to 16.9 grams of marijuana.[4] After a nearly month long period of incarceration, he was released on bail. He still resides in Japan, but his visa status is currently under review. [5] [6]

Enson runs several MMA gyms located in Japan, Saipan, and Guam under the name Purebred. He also has affiliated gyms located in Thailand and the USA. [7] [8] [9]
