Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipsEdit

Originally a welterweight, Tibau made his UFC debut against a strong Nick Diaz. Tibau started strong and was taking Nick Diaz down efficiently using his Jiu-Jitsu. In the second round he tired and lost by TKO due to strikes.

After the fight, Tibau took on Jason Dent at UFC 68. Tibau dominated the fight and won by decision. He then took a one fight hiatus from the company and returned defeating Jeff Cox. Tibau then took on undefeated British favorite Terry Etim, Tibau won the fight by decision.

Tibau then had back to back losses to Tyson Griffin at UFC 81 and then to Joe Stevenson at UFC 86. He then scored back to back wins over Rich Clementi and Jeremy Stephens.

At the TUF 9 Finale, Tibau fought Melvin Guillard. The fight ended with Tibau losing by split decision. The fight was very controversial as many thought Tibau won the fight.[1]

Tibau's next fight was set to be against former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk at UFC 104. Sherk pulled out of the fight and would be replaced by Josh Neer.Tibau defeated Neer landing a total of 10 takedowns during the fight.[2]

Tibau faced Caol Uno on March 31, 2010 at UFC Fight Night 21.[3] He defeated the Japanese fighter by TKO in the first round.[4]

In his next fight, Tibau lost a unanimous decision to Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 22 on September 15, 2010.[5]

Tibau then rebounded with a split decision win over Kurt Pellegrino at UFC 128.[6]

Tibau was expected to face Bart Palaszewski on May 28, 2011 at UFC 130, replacing an injured Cody McKenzie.[7] Palaszewski was also injured and replaced by return UFC veteran Rafaello Oliveira.[8] He won by submission, earning Submission of the Night.[9]

At UFC 139, Tibau defeated Rafael dos Anjos via split decision, winning his third fight in a row.[10]

Tibau's win streak came to a end at UFC 148 against russian up-and-comer Khabib Nurmagomedov, losing by unanimous decision.[11]

He then won a unanimous decision over Francisco Trinaldo at UFC 153 on October 13, 2012.[12] Before losing a split decision to Evan Dunham at UFC 156[13]

Tibau faced John Cholish on May 18, 2013 at UFC on FX 8.[14] He won the fight via submission in the second round.

Tibau faced Jamie Varner on August 31, 2013 at UFC 164.[15] He won the fight by split decision. With this fight, he became the youngest fighter in UFC history to record 20 bouts with the promotion.

Tibau faced Michael Johnson on December 28, 2013 at UFC 168.[16] He lost the fight via knockout in the second round.
