Jacob Steven Ellenberger (born March 28, 1985) is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. Ellenberger is currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championships promotion, fighting in its welterweight division.

Mixed martial artsEdit

International Fight LeagueEdit

Ellenberger made his debut for the IFL, losing to Jay Hieron. For Ellenberger's second fight, he took on Ben Uker at the IFL: Championship Final and then lost his third IFL fight at the 2007 Team Championship Final. In his last fight for the promotion, Ellenberger dominated his opponent, Pat Healy at IFL: Las Vegas.

BodogFightEdit

At the event entitled Clash of the Nations, Jake lost to UFC veteran Derrick Noble. He then defeated another UFC veteran Zach Light at the event Costa Rica Combat.

BellatorEdit

Ellenberger won his fight against Marcelo Alfaya at Bellator 11.

Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipsEdit

Ellenberger was defeated via split decision in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 19 against Carlos Condit. Ellenberger rocked Condit early with powerful punches and good ground control in round one. Condit came back and won the second and third round on 2 of the 3 the judges scorecards.

Most recently, Ellenberger defeated Mike Pyle via second round TKO on January 2, 2010 at UFC 108.[1]

Ellenberger was set to face off against Ben Saunders at UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey as a replacement for the injured Martin Kampmann. However, once Jon Fitch's opponent, Thiago Alves, was forced out due to a brain irregularity, Saunders requested and was granted a fight against Fitch instead of Ellenberger. Due to the last minute switch, Ellenberger will be still be paid his win and show money.[2][3]
