Jason Brilz is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He has competed in various Midwest-based promotions, including the VFC, debuting at the UFC at UFC Fight Night 15.

Wrestling & MMA CareerEdit

Brilz won the Nebraska Class A state championship in 1993 wrestling for Omaha Central High School; a school that was ranked the 10th best athletic program in the nation by Sports Illustrated in 2008. Along with his state title, Brilz was an Academic All American in 1993. At the University of Nebraska-Omaha Brilz was a three time Academic All American, a four year letter winner, and compiled a 63-34 career record. [1] Eventually making his MMA debut in 2000. He has gone on to achieve an 11-win streak, and has been in various talks with the UFC throughout the years, but he has finally secured his debut deal to fight in his native Omaha, Nebraska, at the UFC Fight Night 15[2].

Originally, he was rumored to fight Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 15[3], but ended up fighting Australian Brad Morris, defeating him via TKO at the 2nd round. He then went on to defeat Tim Boetsch at UFC 96 by unanimous decision. While Brilz is a relatively unknown journeyman, he does hold marque wins over notables such as Jason MacDonald and Tim Boetsch. Brilz trains out of Rodrigo Vaghi satellite school North Omaha Jiu Jitsu and Mid America Martial Arts alongside Ryan Jensen, Jake Ellenberger, and Jeremy Horn. He is scheduled to fight Eliot Marshall on September 19, 2009 at UFC 103.[4]

Brilz most recently faced Eric Schafer on March 21, 2010 at UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones.[5]

Despite this relative success in his career, he has stated he is not interested in pursuing fighting full-time[6].

Personal lifeEdit

Jason and his wife Rebecca have two daughters, Evelyn and Gabbi.[7]
