He was a cast member of SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz. Biography[]
Uscola was born and raised in Idaho and started wrestling when he was a the age of seven. He played football and continued wrestling, becoming a state champion in high school while attending Minico High School in Rupert, Idaho. He enrolled in Southwestern Oregon Community College hoping to obtain a Business Management degree. He was on the wrestling team while at Southwestern Oregon and was an All American his sophomore year. He transferred to Eastern Oregon University for his junior year in college because his former school did not have a football team.
MMA Career[]
When he was eighteen years of age he watched his first MMA fight and told himself that he could be successful in that, after hardly training at all he stepped in for his first fight and won by knockout. After the fight he went and started training to become an "unstoppable fighter".[2]
After fifteen fights Uscola was asked by the newest MMA company Bodog Fight to come in and fight for them. Uscola agreed and had only seven days to train before the fight. Kyacey lost by a triangle choke in the second round. Bodog was so impressed that he had only seven days to prepare and almost winning his fight, they decided to give him three more fights (winning two of the three) before the company shut down.[3]
Uscola defeated Pride Fighting Championship veteran Akira Shoji in 2006 for King of the Cage. The fight was set to be a title fight but the day of the fight, KOTC changed it to a non title fight.[4][5] Kyacey lost to Xavier Foupa-Pokam and then two fights later lost to Mike Guymon at a King of the Cage event.
Kyacey was set to step up on 10 days notice to fight Jorge Santiago at Affliction Trilogy, August 1. Affliction: Trilogy was canceled and he ended up fighting for Urijah Faber's promotion, California Kid Promotions winning his fight via submission. He then lost a fight against Kyle Noke. After suffering a loss to Noke, Uscola defeated Koffi Adzitso and improving his record to 18-15.
