Matt Stansell is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Fighter Manager, Commentator, Matchmaker, Trainer, and the former King of the Cage (KOTC) welterweight Champion.[1]

MMA CareerEdit

Fighting out of Carlsbad, California, Stansell was a member of North County Fight Club where he trained with teammates Jason Lambert,[2] Eddie Sanchez,[3] Manny Rodriguez[4], Jeff W. Clark[5] and other top level MMA fighters.

Stansell now trains and teaches at the Blackline Training Center in Carlsbad, CA where he works as a Manager for the Blackline Fight Group

Stansell is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Roy Harris, and was Professor Roy Harris first ever blackbelt.[6]

Although Stansell lost his first two professional bouts, he has gone unbeaten since. His most recent fight was a first round submission victory over then KOTC welterweight champion Thomas "Wildman" Denny[7]. With that victory, Stansell was crowned KOTC welterweight champion.[8]

In 2007, Stansell took a hiatus from fighting and decided to coach other MMA fighters. After working with his own team members at North County Fight Club, Stansell was named an assistant coach in the International Fight League (IFL). Stansell coached under Head Coach Shawn Tompkins as part of the Los Angeles Anacondas.

In addition to coaching MMA, Stansell was the Co-Founder/Vice President of NCFC Fight Management, He is now the President of Blackline Fight Group one of MMA's Top Management Companies.
