Early careerEdit

Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou Blasted into the Mixed martial arts scene with explosive knockouts over Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira after going 2-1 in smaller MMA shows, his only loss was to current UFC number one title contender Glover Teixeira.

UFCEdit

After his stint in Pride Fighting Championships, Sokoudjou was invited to join the Ultimate Fighting Championship.[1] Sokoudjou made his debut against future UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 79, he was submitted in round two with a Arm-Triangle Choke.[2]

Sokoudjou rebounded five months later with a TKO win over Kazuhiro Nakamura, Nakamura injured his leg in the first round forcing the referee to stop the bout at the end of the round.

Sokoudjou then faced tough Brazilian striker Luiz Cane at UFC 89, he was stopped due to strikes late in round two.[3] Sokoudjou was released from the UFC on November 28, 2008.[4]

Post-UFCEdit

Sokoudjou returned to action against UFC veteran Renato Sobral at Affliction: Day of Reckoning on January 24, 2009, Sobral submitted Sokoudjou in round two with a D'arce Choke..[5]

After going 1-3 in his last four fights Sokoudjou won his next two fights against Jan Nortje and Bob Sapp via TKO, Sokoudjou was heavily criticized about his fight with Jan Nortje when he continued to strike even after the referee stopped the fight, he did however apologize after the fight.[6]

In his next fight, Sokoudjou fought veteran Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers, Sokoudjou held his own in round one against the DREAM veteran by repeatedly using his Judo throws and out striking Mousasi, however Mousasi was able to get on top as Sokoudjou faded late in round two and finished the fight via TKO.[7]

On December 31, 2009, Sokoudjou fought Japanese fighter Ikuhisa Minowa at Dynamite!! 2009, he lost the fight by KO in round three.[8] Sokoudjou then fought Dave Herman (fighter) and won the via DQ after repeated illegal knee strikes from Herman.

Sokoudjou picked up his second straight win in Australia against Joaquim Ferreira by TKO at Impact FC 1.[9] In Sokoudjou's next appearance he faced dangerous striker Houston Alexander at Shark Fights 13, in round one Sokoudjou dropped Alexander with a left hook and almost finished the fight but Alexander was able to survive into the next round, Sokoudjou was noticeably tired in round two and Alexander capitalized on it by turning up the pressure and throwing a barrage of punches at Sokoudjou, the fight was stopped at 1:31 in round two and many criticized the referee for the late stoppage.[10]

Sokoudjou continued his losing streak with a second round TKO to Shamil Abdurahimov at ADFC: round two. Sokoudjou won his next three fights against Valdas Pocevičius, Jan Blachowicz and Roy Boughton. Sokoudjou then faced Canadian prospect Ryan Jimmo, Sokoudjou caught Jimmo with a piercing knee in round two that split the head open of Jimmo, Jimmo was rewarded a controversial unanimous decision.[11]

Sokoudjou rematched Jan Blachowicz at KSW 17, he lost the fight by unanimous decision. After a year hiatus, Sokoudjou knocked out Denis Komkin with a head kick before earning a unanimous decision against Seung Bae Whi in April 13, 2013. Sokoudjou returned to heavyweight to face Evgeny Erokhin on May 25, 2013 in Russia, Evgeny Finished Sokoudjou with knees in round three.

On December 7, 2013, Sokoudjou was knocked out by Konstantin Erokhin at Fight Nights: Battle of Moskow 14 in round one.
